Bachelor in Business Management in Poland, Lodz

This bachelor study programme is a comprehensive programme designed to suit the needs of future management support specialists. The programme enables students to acquire knowledge in the field of management methods and techniques as well as skills necessary for successful application of knowledge. The graduates of the programme are qualified to perform roles supporting management functions an enterprise.

The aim of the programme is to create high-potential specialists capable of working effectively in global business regardless of the situation, business location or culture. Students learn and train how to recognize and define business problems and how to address them with different methods and techniques to manage processes in a company.

The BA in Business Management programme was generally remodelled in 2011 and has been running in its current shape as of the academic year 2011/2012. The changes have been necessitated by our desire to benchmark current trends in the world of management, and management education. The current course structure offers a holistic approach to management and reaffirms our aims of creating high potential specialists who are capable of working in every business environment.

The University of Lodz was established in 1945 and has long been one of the biggest and most popular universities in Poland. The 12 faculties, and a branch unit of the University provide programmes in 90 fields of study and 160 specializations. In addition, the University offers several doctoral programmes, more than 50 postgraduate study programmes (including an MBA programme), as well as studies in English and French. More than 32 000 students attend the University of Lodz. This figure includes students of all levels: those of first- and second level degree programmes, as well as postgraduate, and PhD students. Each year there are over 2300 international students studying full time or within exchange programs at the University of Lodz! We hear a lot of languages in the halls of the University. Thus, a diverse multicultural and multigenerational community is built, drawing on the best traditions of the city of Lodz. International students often take part in different activities that originated at the University of Lodz within its University Diversity project. The interest in studying at the University of Lodz is determined not only by high quality of instruction, but also by modern programmes of study adapted to the changing demands of the labour market. The University treats international cooperation as a way to foster its development and continue the city’s tradition. Our institution regularly hosts guest speakers, renowned politicians, businessmen and cultural representatives from Poland and abroad. UL is one of only six Polish Universities which gained a place in the QS World University Rankings.
 
The University of Lodz boasts the oldest and most recognized School of Polish for Foreigners that has educated 25,000 students since 1952. The School runs 1-month, 5-month and 9-month courses which prepare foreign students for future studying in Poland. It offers basic courses of Polish as well as thematic Polish language courses in history, geography, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and philosophy to provide prospective students with the knowledge needed in their future academic settings. After completion, the students are given right to be admitted without extra examinations to many Polish institutions of higher education.
 
International relations of the University are visible in various areas. Currently, within direct cooperation agreements, the school cooperates with about 250 partner institutions from all over the world. The mobility of students is high priority for the University of Lodz, both within university mobility programme (including countries outside the European Union) and within the Erasmus+ Programme. Within the Erasmus+ Programme, the University has so far signed 700 agreements with almost 400 partner institutions. These institutions give our students, whether local or foreign, the possibility of spending a semester, or a year, abroad. In return, we welcome many guests from abroad spending a period of their studies in Łódź. The University of Lodz also takes part in other exchange and research programmes, such as Campus Europae, Scholarship and Training Found (EEA and Norway Grants), Compostela Group of Universities, Erasmus Mundus, CEEPUS, Mizuta Scholarship.
 
As a result of cooperation with a number of foreign universities such as Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3, Université François – Rabelais (Tours), University of Texas in Austin, Westfälische Wilhelms – Universität Münster, the R. H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, University of Regensburg and Centria University of Applied Sciences (Kokkola, Finland) students of the University of Lodz can graduate with dual diplomas.
 
The University of Lodz’s Library is one of the biggest and most modern academic libraries in Poland. At present, its total collection amounts to 3 million volumes. The University Campus offers modern rooms within walking distance from most faculties. The University provides access to a state-of-the-art Sports Centre. Apart from abundant opportunities for social life (countless pubs), the students can join about 120 societies, scientific clubs, associations and other academic organizations.
